The “Too Much” Child • Wounded Child Archetypes
A wounded child archetype is a set of traits and behaviours acquired in childhood from parental or cultural conditioning that falsely defined who you truly are.
False Identities to Release
🗝 I am crazy
🗝 I am too intense
🗝 I am too much
SYMPTOMS + PERPETUATING BEHAVIORS
Do you recognize these symptoms or behaviors that perpetuate the wound?
🌀 Constantly misunderstood and told to calm down, be quiet and/or stop moving.
🌀 Others are intimidated / overwhelmed by the bigness of my ambition, energy, speed, creative pursuits, voice, etc.
🌀 Chronically repress my needs / desires, never asking for their fulfillment, fearing that they are “too much” for others.
🌀 Overstay in relationships / situations that require self-containment, thus denying my soul’s grandest and truest self-expression.
🌀 Always shrink to meet others where they’re at and/or have dramatic outbursts just to be seen, heard and/or understood.
🌀 Others feel threatened when I am fully myself and therefore ostracize / leave me.
🌀 Incapable of receiving, always the giver.
Integration Practices
If you do recognize yourself in these archetypes, here are some practices to maturate and integrate that wounded child.
🌹 Practice articulating needs / desires and receiving guilt-free support from others.
🌹 Only enter into relationships that feel equal and mutually enriching (emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, and physically) and stop settling for less.
🌹 Develop decision making strategies based on clear boundaries and strong intuition.
